In my Spring 2018 internship, I focused on facilitating small groups with my students. By the end of the semester, I wondered how I can focus on my small group while still being able to monitor the rest of the class. While my Collaborative Teacher (CT) was in the classroom with me and could monitor the class, I realized that in my future classroom, I might not have an extra person there to co-teach with me. I would have to learn strategies and methods to hold a small group and watch the rest of the class. This is something I wanted to focus on in my following internships. In my current internship of Fall 2018, I have been placed in a classroom where there are five Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students. With having these five students, they need more attention and in-depth teaching. My CT is able to conduct a small group or work with one student individually to complete any work they might have not been able to finish during class time. While doing this, she turns her focus on the student(s) to ensure they understand what is being taught. So far, I enjoy observing how she is able to conduct individualized teaching or small group and want to gain more knowledge for my future classroom.
