My belief about teaching is that we should create a comfortable and effective environment for our students. To make this possible, us teachers should get to know our students better and make learning fun. I developed the belief of having a comfortable environment when I look back to my kindergarten teacher. She was a mother away from home and made the classroom very comfortable for all of her students. I have also developed the belief to be an effective teacher because of the way I have seen classrooms set up. During my past and current observations, I have seen students sit in groups and one or two students have their own separate desk. While there must be a good reason why they have their own desk, having a separate desk can be a temporary discipline or an option for students who work better alone. However, I do believe that students are not as involved as they would be in groups and this makes it easier for effective activities and teamwork.
